Urban Permaculture in Action!
On
meeting up with Juliet and Liz in March 2015 to discuss our respective
accreditations, it was suggested that we have a joint event under the
heading of Urban Permaculture in Action. An
interactive, market place style session, with slides and other visuals,
perhaps totalling 2 hours, where we would each get an opportunity to
showcase our 3 favourite designs, (iin a lightning talk fashion) and be
available the rest of the time to chat with interested parties and
answer questions. People would not be obliged to sit for 2 hours or
even 1 hour and listen to a presentation, they could dip in and out as
they pleased. (There was suggestiion that we provide some cake and tea
too as a further attraction).
The advantages of this are that
newcomers to Permaculture could come in and see results of our Diploma
journey (Permaculture in Action!) and we would be on hand for explanations and more
detail. (Observe and interact, Integrate rather than segregate)
Also present would be our assessors and peers for feedback and further questions.
Next acheivable steps
- Think about which 3 designs we 'd like to showcase - tell each other to ensure a good range of designs being presented. (mine will probably be Permaculture for Kids, St Saviour's Edible Garden and Working in the Gift. (Connecting with nature, urban food growing and community).
- Ask our tutors if this was a viable way to celebrate our accreditation. (and PCA) (they said yes, though we'll need our own separate peers and diplomats)
- go on facebook and invite peers and diplomats to attend (Juliet)
